Services and Pricing
I've been a professional editor for 17 years and have worked on dozens and dozens and d-, it’s a lot, a lot of books at this point. Rest assured that whatever level of author you are, I've the experience needed to help your book become better. No story challenge is too large, too weird, or too subtle.
As a long time book marketer and producer, I can also help you with commercial problems like keywords, genre fit, cover review, blurbs, series strategy, and more. Keep reading for the full list of all my services.
I don’t use AI. I do use programs like KDP Rocket. When it comes to most of what I do though, I’m relying upon nearly two decades of hands-on experience. Which includes heaps of data from an entire bookcase worth of book launches and completed series. My experience also comes from going to various writing conventions and talking to others in the industry. I remember the launch of Kindle Unlimited, the launch of Kindle Unlimited 2.0 (which is what’s in place now), and the -grumble- launch of AMS with it’s proliferation of CPC ads on Amazon. I’ve worked before and after Bookbub, also worked without it since getting one is unreliable for most authors.
Point is, I’ve been here for a while and I’ve done a lot in this industry. So, let me help you.
Development Edits
I believe that the point of developmental edits is to make both book and author better. To that end, I will read, I will critique, I will encourage, and I will also flag missteps. It’s a thorough process that I’ll explain more of on the next page (learn more.) If I do my job well, then both your writing skills and your book will improve.
Choose from two different levels.
Full Read - The real deal, where I read your entire manuscript and come back with a full editorial letter as well as inline commentary on execution, vibe, prose, consistency, and more. We’ll have a talk about it too.
For either option, please click learn more below to see all the details as well as pricing information. (I’m upfront on pricing. It’s all there and its all calculable without having to contact me.)
Chapter 1 - Editing only chapter 1 may not sound like much but I bet you’ll be surprised by how much feedback I can provide from just that tidbit and how much you can learn from it. For new authors struggling to get quality feedback, this is a great option.
If you’re going to spend any money on editing, the all-important chapter 1 is the place to do so.
(Genres: I mostly work in SFF, but I am familiar with thrillers. I’m not your man for horror though. As for Romance, I read it, I like it, I used to attend Romantic Times but I’ll be honest, there are better editors out there than me for Romance.
As for LitRPG and Progression Fantasy, I’m a big fan and I’m fairly expert at game design so I can help with crunchy mechanics as well as story.)
Blurb Writing
Having trouble writing your blurb? Don’t know where to start? Are you wondering if your blurb is good? I can help you as I’ve helped so many others.
Show me what you have and I’ll come back with feedback plus a quality blurb that you can use as is or as a jumping-off-point.
Starting at just $100 for a 250 word blurb.
Don’t be afraid to ask for short and long versions (for platforms like IngramSpark or various email blast services.)
Quick Consult
Writing can be a lonely art and sometimes we all need a bit of perspective. Preferably an experienced professional perspective. If you’re stuck, beating your head into a wall of words, or wondering if it’s all just bad (or shaking your fists at the gods crying, “why won’t it be good?!”) then give me a try.
We can connect up and I’ll listen, I’ll bring my years of expertise to the table, and I’ll do my best to get you unstuck. Oh so many times we just need help seeing the forest again.
The cost is $75 for the first hour then billed in 15 minute intervals after that. We can talk as long as you like. (Though I’d like a 1-page synopsis of your story beforehand, please. It saves us both time.)
Commercial Audit
Writing the passion project of your heart is the one thing most authors have in common. Creating the commercially viable form of such is not. My company has published 20+ titles with over 500,000 units sold, so I feel I can claim to know a thing or two about how to blend art and commercialism.
Whether you’re working on book one and worrying “is this going to sell?” or if you’re mid-way through a series that isn’t selling, let me take a look. I can help.
For $250, I’ll go over your author presence online, read your book’s blurb (or blurbs for a series), take a look inside, and review its presentation (cover, title, genre match, etc..) Then we’ll discuss what I found, how to fix any problems, and what you can do improve sales. We can also talk about the series as a whole in terms of strategy and positioning.
A very special thanks to Jared Chambers for providing the beautiful photography featured in this template.
